Ten Things to Love

Ten Things to Love about the Mega Warehouse in North Ashford

1. 1.5 Million Square Foot Mega Warehouse: If you like warehouses, this will be largest warehouse in all of eastern Connecticut. It will cover 26 football fields.

2. Destruction of 70 Acres of Trees: If you like trees, this proposal will destroy 70 acres of them creating a desert like environment in North Ashford.

3. Largest ever Mega Warehouse in Water Supply Watershed: If you care about clean drinking water, would you want the largest Industrial Building ever proposed in Ashford to threaten the water of 55,000 people downstream?

4. 65,000 gallons of wastewater a Day into the Fenton: If you like clean water and the pristine water quality of the Fenton River, this may be our last gulp.

5. 75 Foot Tall Mega Warehouse Scrapes the Sky: If you like Ashford’s rural landscape, seeing the tallest building in eastern Connecticut may change your views.

6. 3.5 Million Cubic Yards of a Mountain Removed: An entire mountain side next to a Connecticut state Forest will be removed – 3.5 million cubic yards of soil & bedrock.

7. Developer Doesn’t Care About Ashford: Developer doesn’t plan to live in Ashford nor will he reveal who will be the real owner/user of the building built on speculation. What if the owner turns out to be the Federal Bureau of Prisons? The Feds don’t pay taxes.

8. Developer is Sucker Punching the Town: Would you believe taxes will go down? Find a town where development meant less taxes!

9. Expect Triple the Traffic, Noise and Accidents: Do you like a quiet town with few accidents and little traffic? This will be your worst nightmare.

10. No Public Water or Sewers exist in North Ashford: Without sewer and water, fire service will be compromised, nearby wells and wetlands will be drained dry from a mega well requiring at least 65,000 gallons of water a day.

It’s your town. Do you really want this to happen? It will change All of Ashford, no matter whether you live in the south or north part of town. Rather than a rural place to raise your family, it will be the first step to creating an urban landscape. Learn more, go to the website: https://www.keepashfordrural.net/

Email the Planning and Zoning Commission at zeo@ashfordtownhall.org  Tell them to SAY “NO” to the proposal. Act soon, the Commission meets on March 13, 2023 at 7pm. The Zoom link for the meeting will be posted on https://www.keepashfordrural.net/ as soon as it’s available.

Please STOP the MEGA WAREHOUSE. This may be the most important civic duty you will ever make as an Ashford citizen.
